Twoinchdestroya (twoinchdestroya@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2024 10:26:43 JST Twoinchdestroya @Turdicus @Griffith @DW2 Government spending encompasses a lot, but I'll try to simplify it.
1. Social Welfare spending, the American government spends billions on welfare, subsidized housing for migrants, druggies, and the homeless; not only that, but also pays for the meals and sometimes gives them a debit card for non-essential spending. That's all to say, we use not only our tax dollars to pay for non contributing members, but also the money printed to support those who don't produce anything for the economy.
This is also added to foreign aid, we spend nearly a trillion dollars a year to fund Israel, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and other countries, all of which we don't see a penny back.
2. Bailouts for iinfrastructure includes legacy companies like Boeing and banks. In order to keep them afloat, because they have been losing money or gone to near bankruptcy, the federal reserve will take on their dept and raise interest rates to pay it off.- Kenny Blankenship likes this.

I guess the good news here is nothing last forever, though it won't be pretty when the shit hits the fan -
Turdicus, of Christmas Time (turdicus@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2024 10:29:41 JST Turdicus, of Christmas Time @Twoinchdestroya @Griffith @DW2 so it’s just a lot of money going places that don’t deserve it that no normal person would agree to?

Twoinchdestroya (twoinchdestroya@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2024 10:35:03 JST Twoinchdestroya @Turdicus @Griffith @DW2 Exactly, we spend an unaccountable amount without any returns.
The unaccountable is emphasized because we actually have no idea where most of the spending goes. That's why all welfare projects and spending on housing and so on goes nowhere. With all the bureaucracy, by the time the spending is approved, all the funds disappear. -
Turdicus, of Christmas Time (turdicus@poa.st)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Apr-2024 10:35:11 JST Turdicus, of Christmas Time @DW2 @Twoinchdestroya @Griffith I know it is, but it’s how I try to view it to make any of the bad times a little easier to bear
