     @coin Skip is a butchered form of the old word for Sheep - "Sceap".

     I wonder what they have there.

     @coin The town is over 1000 years old, it's no small wonder it's slowly made its way from "sheep town" to "skipton".
     Mostly I'm more surprised there's still sheep there.
