@victor @EssentialUtinsil I would rather people strap in for the long haul. Propagating this doomed mentality and telling people it’s all gonna be over ends up wasting a lot of life-years because people end up planning for a future that never comes.
“haha, who cares about retirement? I’ll never live to 60” is fun and glib, but chances are most here WILL. And I’d rather them prepare for THAT eventuality over the full collapse. You can do both, but IRL should take up the bulk of our attention. I’d rather someone have, say, $10,000 in acquiring a technical, useful, lasting skill instead of $10k in survival shit. The canned food will deteriorate, but the ability to repair stuff won’t.
