Christi Junior (christijunior@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Sunday, 31-Mar-2024 21:39:39 JST Christi Junior Watched Star Wars Episode II today, and it still holds up. As long as you can deal with some wooden acting and cringy dialogue, it's a damn fun movie, and while some of the scenes and locations look a lot more "artificial" and blatantly CGI than I remembered them, many of the action scenes and big set pieces are still spectacular, and there's a lot of genuine eye-candy to behold. Moreover, stuff like Anakin's authoritarian bent and his desperate desire to prevent his loved ones from dying (even dreaming of overcoming death itself) does a better job than I remembered of setting up his eventual fall in Revenge of the Sith.
...not to mention that Anakin's social awkwardness and somewhat off-putting demeanor makes a lot more sense when you remember that the boy spent the first half of his life as a slave owned by a Space Jew, and the second half of his life being bossed around by a bunch of celibate warrior monks who both revere and fear him, and who split the difference by not nearly giving him the credit he deserves.-

Luke tried doing that in the New Jedi Order and mostly succeeded, like dropping the "no lovers" rule being himself married to Jade. Unfortunately, that optimistic progress, even with the Yuzan Vong bs, was officially wiped away by Igor, Kennedy, and Abrams to score an humiliation ritual against Luke's character. -

I don't recall any having been children in the Jedi Order; they were either individuals who developed their power on their own then were recruited, or found as children and trained, but never as true Sith, just force-enhanced agents of the Emperor, since there was only one of Vader.
Emps saw plenty of use for force-sensitive agents, since they could do things no one else could, but would never be a threat (despite occasional betrayals). If you've read Crimson Empire, even Palpatine's Royal Guards could probably solo some of them. -
Gerfand (gerfand@poa.st)'s status on Sunday, 31-Mar-2024 21:39:33 JST Gerfand @Gundog @SuperSnekFriend @special-boy @RehnSturm256 @ChristiJunior @zoomgoboom Mara Jade is a funny one there
No not talking about her being a smoking hot redhead that starts as a Yandere (in the kill my lover sense)
But she acts like she is some super agent that Sheev cares for her and her only, not realizing that the only one that was unique was Vader (as the Emperor himself made clones so he would not die easly)... On another hand she only truly becomes powerfull from Luke Training, which is what lacked on most force sensitive in Imperial times, proper training.
That said I still think Jedi stuff is kinda bullshit and they should drop the 16 century Samurai and just adopt the 16 century Reiter aesthetic. -

youd think that children that age would be easy enough to turn.
or does the jedi indoctrination take that firm hold that fast? -

It does. That's was why the Jedi Council was reluctant in taking in Anakin in the first place, not just for being too old for certain lessons in the Force. They also feared he had persistent feelings of stubbornness even when first meeting them. They took him in only because of Qui-Gon's passing, Obi Wan's promise to not go full Qui-Gon Grey Force, and Yoda and co. fearing Anakin's extraordinary power in the Force being influenced by people outside the purview of the Jedi Order.
Plus, the Sith's Rule of Two wouldn't have allowed for any other apprentices, even if Vader broke that rule secretly multiple times throughout his stent as Palpatine's knight. -

New Janny in Town likes this.
