Finished the Titanfall 2 campaign, feels like it ended too early, but maybe that's just because I wanted more. Now stuck looking through all my games to find something to scratch the "FPS campaign" itch and realizing I've got like half a dozen games that I've already played to death that fit. :mokou_lying:
About the only thing I have that I haven't beaten several times over is Armored Core 6, but I got filtered hard by Balteus and I'm not feeling like bashing my head against that particular wall right now.

@Giganova8 I used a cheesy tank build to kill Balteus on my first run, but once I figured out how to use hard lock (Don't move the mouse at all after pressing the button) he became piss easy

@Giganova8 >feels like it ended too early
Honestly with how Titanfall 2 was going for a while, it really seemed like the devs found their footing and were on track to make a really cool series, possibly make an even bigger campaign for a third game. Fuck Apex Legends for absolutely destroying that. Only benefit from Apex was drawing some Japanese players to check out Titanfall 2 because of the vague connections.
As for FPS games, it's depressing how much the industry destroyed the idea of an FPS game having a campaign, or at least a good one, once online play really picked up. I can't even suggest any since there's so few now that aren't just the bland indie game based on doom or AAA CoDish game where the campaign is dogshit. :cirno_cry:

@Giganova8 Shooters with proper campaigns are underrated in today's age. They used to have campaigns to drive the shooter aspect, but now it's all about multiplayer pewpewing

@Cayhr
E-"sports" ruined so much, and Fortnite and PUBG finished the genre off, everything coming out now is either "battle royale", "overtuned e-sports PVP deathmatch", or "le quirky indie game that never gets finished". :Miyu_Cry:
I get that multiplayer is fun, but it was never meant to be an excuse for the devs to just not bother making huge chunks of the game, especially when they don't even bother adding bots or any sort of offline play. RTS was like this for a while, and I'm still salty that Planetary Annihilation basically completely scrapped their single-player work in favor of a knockoff e-sports league, but fortunately things are getting better there, bunch of new stuff coming up that looks really good. I hoped things would improve when Terminator: Resistance came out, since it was a surprisingly well-made, single-player focused shooter, but I guess the allure of having their very own minimum-effort money printer like Fortnite is just too strong for devs to resist. :chino_dead:

@supersid333 @Giganova8 @Cayhr >Just play old games
I know why this is such a prevalent statement, but it pains me so much to have to think like this. Old games are really fun and a lot of them stand the test of time perfectly, but sometimes I do just want to play something newer. Not in the sense of being the kind of person who thinks "man I would really kill to play more live service battle royales," but rather that at some point I'll have played quite a number of the games I was actually interested in, and checked out most of the currently released actually quality mods.
No, what I want is people actually making interesting new shit, possibly even actually using newer technologies. Splatoon is fun to me because it's such an out of nowhere idea that feels great to play (and actually has solid campaigns for the most part) with motion controls, and it just hadn't really been done before. I want more of that kind of use of newer technologies and changing ideas, not just shitty live service online only pain or denying any possibility of a game being good past the early 2010s.
why yes this is an unhinged rant started by nothing :cirno_smile:

@Giganova8 @Cayhr Just play old games, all the good ones also have modding communities injecting new gameplay into old games anyways.

@gear @Giganova8 Punching Balteus is pretty fun too :ina_nod:

@Giganova8
I beat Balteus with melee strictly

@Iffine I agree with you. I WANT to see new things come out to advance the industry and the art form. However, in the mean time, the industry has been subverted and became overwhelmingly safe. The prevalent mindset of retreating to older things is there because all the new stuff... SUCKS. I agree with you, Splatoon was so interesting because it was incredibly unique and it worked so well with the concept of the inklings. I want to see more of that, but... for now, as we build a new industry while the old one collapses, I'll be happy with older games and slow but gradual iteration upon technologies and ideas before we get a new golden era of innovation and uniqueness.

@Cayhr @Iffine @Giganova8 @supersid333 What pains me is old games with great concepts that never got a sequel to refine those idea's because they flopped.
Resonance of Fate come to mind.
