They explained they've generally got 30 seconds per carriage to make sure it's safe. They need a couple times that. Railways in the US have been cutting costs as a means of increasing profits for shareholders for quite a while. The Ohio derailment was caused by existing damage to the train, for example.
The US Govt shut their strike down. Presumably because lobbyists were able to angle this as a bullshit industrial action that was a threat to the state, while media angled it as being exclusively about sick days. Sure it's not about making eggs expensive, but people made choices that explicitly lead to things like the East Palestine situation for the purposes of wringing out every dollar from the railroads.Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this. -

They had been saying they kept carrying mile long trains when a sane country would be limiting them to half that, or something along those lines.
