People think everything is horrible but we still have a long way down. If society stays somewhat functional I think we'll need 2 to 3 generations of this post-inernet degeneracy to REALLY bear fruit to the point where you look out your front door in horror, begging the good Lord for an asteroid.
THere are pockets of evil, but by and large it still gets an eyebrow raise from plenty of people. I'll believe the end is near when I'm the only one in a room scowling at what the slaanesh worshippers call "normal"

Ours is a generational battle. Ideally, I'll be the most degenerate, immoral man in the family for 5 generations more.
Our sons can be better men than us. Huge whitepill nobody talks about. The more plain and apparent the evil of normalcy is, the easier it is to eschew it.

Christmas Coon (mebigbrain@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 23-Mar-2024 10:09:38 JST Christmas Coon @WashedOutGundamPilot @chainsaw_appreciator @justnormalkorean The ultimate failing of the boomers was that they never wanted future generations to have it better than they did. Even complaining about how "easy" kids have it is just a vile envy. We must never make their mistake. We should want better for everyone who comes after us. Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this. -

They just don't put it into words. There's an ocean of things left unsaid, because they think we intuit things that are so "obvious I didn't know I had to tell it to you". A heart-to-heart with them would surprise you. It has me.
In my family and extended community, I see it a lot. I've seen more than a handful of old folks living like paupers, protecting their inheritance for the family because they fear what's to come when they're gone.
I've seen men in their early 70's working a full stack of odd jobs because they pay for their adult daughter's expensive medical care, or want to send their grandkids to college, thinking it's the only way to survive. They're working their life away because they're the only one with employment good enough to support the clan.
I've seen fat prepper guys cataloging arsenals that would make an embassy of marines blush, planning to issue them throughout their 20+ grandchildren so they don't go into the future unarmed.
I like shitting on boomers too but in the last few years I've really gotten around to see parts of america that showed a quiet, resilient, faithful people that love their family. They may have some of those intergenerational faults, they may roll their eyes at you when you tell them it's hard finding work as a young white man, but they're still there for you. You're blood, and they know it. They just don't have it in them to tell you how much they love you out loud

Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 23-Mar-2024 10:29:24 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks @MeBigbrain @chainsaw_appreciator @justnormalkorean I get to talk with a lot of older guys over a late night after work beer. They spill their guts while we're sitting on some airBNB couch, telling me all the things they never tell their own kids. It hurts to hear, an older man worried that his son doesn't care about him, a man who probably fucked up plenty, but tried to work his ass off and make life better for his kids, as he tries to unload some of his regrets and worries.
I know some guys bristle at this thing but I'll reiterate that you ought to at least have a deep, intimate conversation with your parents once every few years. I know a fren who got disowned by his family, because they thought he was an underperformer, lazy, enjoying a dead-end life. His dad apologized to him, hat in hand, and confessed that he'd felt awful about doing it every day since. He just thought it would be the kick in the pants the guy needed to get his ass in gear and snap out of his vidya+porn+pills fugue state (IDK if he's into them but he WAS underperforming in his career track)
They gave him a blank check, said "You're my son and I love you, the happiest day of my entire life was when they put your tiny little body into my arms. I'll do anything I can to make sure you have a good life".
That guy thought his dad didn't like him at all, thought he was a pain in the ass, that the other kids in the family had taken the crown of being the favorite already. He was totally wrong, from the sound of it. I'd even told that story here when I was talking about how screwed up the boomers are, because estranging your son for such a small thing is so retarded it begs for scorn. But they made up, it was a mistake, and like every fight, nobody ever shares the part where they make up and repair the relationship.
aaaahhhhhh......maybe I'm hearing too many of these lately, it's getting to me. Everyone I talk to I understand. The majority of these things really sound like the fault is shared between us and our parents, I know my own frayed-at-times relationship has been too. I keep softening up on my own dad's silly boomerisms. He's trying his best with what he got in life. I'm not going to begrudge him for not being ideologically nimble enough to reorient his entire life in the span of a few years. He's my dad, as long as we're on the same team in life he'll agree with me one day.

"Do what you're passionate about, work hard, compete, and you'll succeed!!!"
I see this a lot in UMC kids whose parents can pay for schooling. The kids don't know shit about the world, the parents are kind of blinded to a lot of different jobs, so they tell their kid to DO WHAT YOU LOVE - resulting in worthless dead ends like video game design, filmmaking, or writing on the low end, at best doctorin', piloting, or shooting.
That is turning away slowly as conservatives internalize this blue collar worship propaganda, so they pivot for the younger children and push the zoomer siblings to be plumbers instead of a "dumbass artist like your older brother".
They're trying, they just aren't prepped to be running on falling sand, they're reacting to changes too late. These same people balk when I tell them their kids should subvert the system and join the gay latino association in order to get ahead - 10 years behind the curve

kc (kc-poast@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 23-Mar-2024 12:23:57 JST kc @WashedOutGundamPilot @MeBigbrain @chainsaw_appreciator @justnormalkorean I try to mimic a lot of executive management techniques when dealing with my kids. If they are fucking up, I first let them know "hey did you mean to do that thing there?" and then as it goes on, and they aren't self-reflecting I escalate to "this is what I need from you as a member of this family, we all have a role to play, and I expect this minimum from you as a result." As long as I follow up with "I think you can do that, and ideally, you can do this other much more impressive thing", it tends to be received ... "OK".
The major thing is that you can't just hold it in and explode on them, that just proves their own opinions about how you are the unreasonable and stupid parent who doles out love based on their whims. You have to be willing to draw that line and stick to it.
Most parents do not understand that the world is not even remotely the same as it was when they were growing up. The rate of change is insane, and children need that sage parental voice and firm hand in this gay as fuck world, with the knowledge that "yes, I am not a kid, and I don't know exactly what you are going through, but I know a lot, and I will be there for you no matter what". The lack of that creates a vacuum of power which is quickly filled by their peers, and that is a recipe for failure. -

kc (kc-poast@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 23-Mar-2024 12:32:36 JST kc @WashedOutGundamPilot @MeBigbrain @chainsaw_appreciator @justnormalkorean I've recently had this chat with some dissidents as well. The conservative trope of funneling everyone into trades seems like a honeypot. Sure, its better than data entry or some faggot environmental science degree, but it isn't going to get you the credentials needed to take real power from the local government and enact actual change. Now, not everyone is meant to be a leader, and trades are a fantastic option as the coin flip of college (heads your gay, tails you have depression) proves to be mostly a time and money waster.
I ask kids "what do you want to do?" and then I will ask them if they want advice on what career path is correct based on my own reading of the tea leaves of economy, but I stopped beating the "college is bad" drum in favor of the "debt is a death wish" drum instead.Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this. -

Nobody ever sees a 10th of what's available until we're railroaded into something, then we find people who fell into all kinds of cool stuff for work.
"wait you just paint noseart on vintage warbirds? How'd you do that?"
"well I got my flight engineer cert, one of a dozen in the country that year, and I ended up talking to the director of the CAF when he saw this piece on my car in the lot, and...."

No one tells a woman or nigger about some cool niche job that their friend has because they know they wouldn't appreciate it or care (and would likely be annoyed anyway). Pretty much all my cool jobs came about from chatting w/ a stranger who said "I like your vibe, you should work for me" I was in high school when some dude offered me a job driving limousines. I met him while working as a gofer at a concert. My life would be very different without all those weird little detours
