So I got a Philips IntelliVue MP30 Patient Monitor.
This is a thing that'd be mounted by your hospital bed and it lists all sorts of medical stats about you, and can sound an alarm if they suddenly go sideways.
So obviously I wanted one to take apart and see how it works, you know?

It's got a part number of M8002A, software revision of D.00.58, and HW revision of A.00.17

Here's the main PCB. The little sticker says it's an M8058-66402

So the biggest chip is a Fujitsu MB87F2640 Prisma 2.
Amazingly, no relevant results I can find!
I suspect this may be a SPARC chip but I can't prove it

And there's another Fujitsu chip, an MB87L2110 Spider.
Possibly a RISC32 chip? No good results either. Sigh.

And here is a Freescale (now NXP) MPC852TZT50A.
That's a 50mhz PowerQUICC CPU, based on POWER architecture.

@foone Does it have any input modules? Or a module rack? The input modules are neat, partly because they (I believe) go way back to HP designs back in the days before HP sold everything interesting off.

RAM wise we have four of these Samsung K4S281632F-TC75s
That's a 16 megabyte chip, so this thing has 64 megabytes of RAM

And we've got two AMD Am29LV128 16-megabyte flash chips.
So 32 megabytes of flash in total.

And here is a Cypress (now Infineon) CY62157DV30 1-megabyte SRAM chip.
Maybe as a data acquisition buffer?

And this chip is a Philips P87C51FA... IT'S AN 8051! mark off another spot on your membership card.

for some reason there's another flash chip on the bottom. This one is a 4 megabyte AL032D70BA103

And this Intel LXT905PC is an ethernet transceiver.
Slightly weirdly since this device has an ethernet expansion card. Why does it have ethernet on the motherboard and then also add-in ethernet hardware?

And an Atmel ATTINY2313V: That's an 8-bit AVR microcontroller, with 2 kilobytes of flash and 128 bytes of RAM.

You might also find some cool isolation amplifiers if this unit has heart monitor capability.

so one of the add-ons is 4 USB ports and it turns out it won't work if you don't properly partition your USB devices.

@foone all this NVRAM has me curious how the hospital certifies there's no HIPAA left on it. code that only loads patient data in RAM? leave it disconnected for a year before resale? does anyone even give a shit?
