They'd be really handy if they exist, as currently we can only do superconducting at super-cold temperatures.
SEMIconductors, on the other hand, are things like diodes and transistors, and they're everywhere. They're not super temperature dependent, so "room temperature" is kinda meaningless. The joke is just mixing up the two because they sound similar
