     Broader context aside network states sound like the worst of all worlds. Nation states arguably make sense when the point is to hold territory.
     A nation without territory is a cult by another name.

     @gabriel @Hyolobrika @binkle I didn't actually want to say that it is better, it can be better or worse depending on many factors. Extraterritorial institutions are not a new thing, and when they are small they are mostly benign, unlike territorial ones. If Balaji's Bitcoin cult is going to take over the world like Christianity did in the past, then we're in trouble, but this seems unlikely

     I do want to flesh out the idea better at some point. But I'm concerned about the incentives.
     You're definitely not wrong that being better than how things are is not a high bar.
