   I looked at a german videogame magazine from 1993 to see how expensive videogames were back then. I remembered they were around 100 DM (50 euro), and that was somewhat accurate, they were more like 120DM (60 EURO).
   
   If games would have stayed at the same price level, a videogame would cost 102 euro in 2023.
   
   Generally, I feel that games have become a lot cheaper over the years. Videos and other entertainment, too.

     @lain Games have changed how you pay too, upfront cost isn't really the money maker anymore
     Fortnite is free upfront but I've spent way over 100 euro on it, for example

     @ocean true, but there are still tons of games that are fixed price. Although maybe by now the free to play scene is much bigger!

     @lain indie games are sometimes like 15 dollars and are at least as good as a decent snes game, things are definitely better

     @Moon yeah, also things like gamepass, you get like 200 games with new things coming out every month for the price of one weekend game rental at blockbuster

     ps1/ps2 games were also dirt cheap (~3 dollars)
     smh people living in places where consoles were officially released
