  @DemonSixOne @MeBigbrain @monsterislandcolonizer one of my neighbors has a sears kit house his grandfather made after the wedding. His parents asked where he wanted to live and he said “how about in that pasture?”
  so he ordered it and built the thing. Still holds up, too.

Same reason that tinyhouses are illegal in most areas and people try sticking wheels on them to pass them off as a trailer.

  How many people know how to build or maintain the plants that make the steel?
  
  How many of these people are White men who do not have succession plans because society has not functioned to the level where other White men are there to take their role? How many of these jobs have been shipped to China as the last White men retired?

He told me that the managers kept sending in guys to find out exactly what they did, recording times, temperatures, what was added when. But he said they would never be able to duplicate it, because it was an art. I believed him.

  I keep losing it a little bit because 70% of the people I see and interact with day to day are basically just interchangeable, indistinguishable entities. The more stupid skanks I deal with, the more my mind just converts them to “Stupid skank #1,456,211” and treats them as if I’ve been dealing with that exact one for years already

Pretty sure I had been seeing the wife for nearly a month before I actually remembered her name, took me about a year to remember her mom's name... it's not that I don't care it's that I end up remembering obscure bullshit about random things instead for some reason.
  
  I can remember the smell of the Scion they had back then (got totaled by a deer smashing up the whole engine block), I could recreate the layout of the house as it looked when I met her, I can drive somewhere twice (once in daylight, once at night) and return at any time, years later, confident I'll get there...
  
  But names? Phone numbers? LOLNO.

  Then again I never update my notes except to remember landmines and grudges so……..

Everything cool is done by networking, and that little “oh, did your son make the team?” can open doors for you because the other guy will think “holy shit, this guy remembered that from last year? amazing, he’s really on top of things!”
  The little notes app, or a spreadsheet can do wonders
  then again I never update mine with the good, only the bad.
  And the last time i felt very confident in going in blind I called a black woman “Kesha”……and her name was something like “Sarah” so that was embarrassing
