@Meemoo I never understood horror now
Before it was like something like fear or alien isolation
Now it's literally just shitty horror of "ooooh scary picture"
-
@luithe zoomers are textbook NPCs because the very idea of acting independently outside a herde sends them into existential dread
-
@peemasons @luithe hello OC
I've been doing alright, enjoying my weekend atm.
-
@Meemoo @luithe hey meemoo how ya doin
-
@Meemoo really?
I never felt like that and this horror was only scary for like 2 days before it wore off and became garbage
Like the analog horror garbage
-
@Meemoo @luithe buenas noches then
-
@luithe they find liminal spaces scary because it's a normally populated space suddenly being empty.
I think it's scary to them because they are so used to being within society, and having all info spoonfed to them, that the idea of having to think and act for themselves is terrifying or something.
I noticed that their idea of developing this kind of horror is to fill them with monsters that need very specific methods to deal with, which they have a youtuber spoonfed to them. all of which furthers my belief that they are NPCs
-
@Meemoo @luithe You know, more than anything this is the absolute worst part of "zoomer horror." The need, the fucking desperate desire for a big spook man to come and anally rape them in the hallway, otherwise it's not "scary."
It's all throughout all these types of horror too, like the fuckin mascot horror and nostalgia horror, all of it just boils the genre down to jumpscares and "ooo this thing killed people" pretty much. Sometimes you get 30 full books worth of worthless lore to go with it too, so the kids can be scared of the idea of having to think and read.
-
@Iffine @Meemoo tbf horror games are still like this
-
@luithe @Meemoo I mean, the idea behind it is to invoke feelings of nostalgia, but then praying on the discomfort that comes from it being wrong. Familiar settings distorted into a winding labyrinth being the main one. It's a fine horror to invoke in moderation, but when the entire market is saturated in it it becomes completely inert.
Horror is honestly just something lost on 90% of people making horror anyways. It's all a game of making people fear the unknown and all the ones that spring up in popularity are dumb cheap scares that are easy to farm content out of.
Even the mid horror games of the previous generation had a better feel for it. Slenderman is really eh but it plays it's hand well enough by letting you soak in the atmosphere before sicking him on you.
-
@supersid333 @Meemoo slender man works because the forest is supposed to be creepy anyways
Not the the fucking pool or office hallway shit
-
@Meemoo I'm a zoomie as well but I never felt the need of finding liminal spaces scary
Hell it's only disturbing in post war scenarios like a playground or preschool blown up by nukes
-
@luithe @Meemoo liminal spaces are good seasoning for horror. Imagine being chased down a never ending hall by a monster and all the doors are locked. By themselves they're unsettling and/or interesting at most.
-
@Kyonko802 @Meemoo counter point: https://invidious.varishangout.net/watch?v=J5izAEYhl4I?feature=shared
-
@luithe @Meemoo Like I mentioned, the creepy factor the backrooms type horror stuff tries to tap into is discomfort from the mundane being molded in unnatural ways.
-
@supersid333 @Meemoo sure if it's something like pt
-
@luithe @Meemoo Man it's almost as if the issue is the middling execution of the idea and not the idea itself.
-
@supersid333 @Meemoo them zoomies can't make shit then
-
@luithe I always found them relaxing personally.
I love being alone in a quiet place away from people.
-
@Kyonko802 @luithe there's already a backroom floor with that same concept you mentioned.
problem is, zoomies felt the need to add specific instructions and shit you have to follow to survive it, which defeats the whole thrill and horror aspect of it.
"running while being chased by an unknown monster through an endless hallway " sounds a lot scarier than "being chased by a monster in a hallway until you find a specific colored door after running for 2045858 miles which you then have to jump through to MAYBE get transported into a safe zone"
-
@Meemoo @Kyonko802 pretty much my home life my entire grade school to middle school life was
No troon or sexual predator got to me since I would immediately go home, read some random funny books or play video games and neglect my homework :kek_pain:
-
@Kyonko802 @luithe you know your concept isn't scary when it ends up on a comedic Vanossgaming video
-
@Meemoo @luithe anything with a thumbnail like that is bound to not be scary
-
@Kyonko802 @luithe even has the hallway chase you mentioned
-
@Meemoo @luithe I can't even fucking see anything :noa_disgust:
