     I feel the same way about looking at this guy today as I do seeing a once-great tractor sitting in an old man's field. It was once a thing of great potential, but neglect has deflated its tires and turned it into a project, instead of a worker.

They live in a world where success is made in the grade, the diploma, and not the actual work. In their minds, world-shaking inventions could never come from a student who fails every subject

     Only a man would look at a notebook of a child working out mechanical principles with brute force, unwavering discipline and committment to see there's a diamond waiting to be faced under that obsession

     @WashedOutGundamPilot i just see myself here. wanted to be an astronaut when i was a kid until i learned they weren't the ones making the ships. nowadays i'm doing factorio bullshit in palworld and calculus for stupid ships in kerbal space program because i find that shit fun, but i've spent most of my entire life making money off thug work and security work because i'm big and strong and that's what i can actually make money with
     
     sitting down for 20 years and optimizing an engine or assembly line to run 2% more efficiently is one of those dream jobs i'll never have
