     @sickburnbro The closest TV show I know of that sort of checks these boxes is "Bluey", but even that's not really showing the provider aspect to my knowledge.

     @sickburnbro I can't find the old post about it but I once wrote about how baffling it has been to watch the simpsons go from something that churchgoing, uptight folk refused to let their kids watch to one of the few functional traditional families on television.

     When I was a kid it wasn't infrequent to have parents gatekeep it because of various adult elements (sex jokes, drugs, or, as my dad hated, insubordination on bart's part) but today? Hell, it's old fashioned! That's how bad the rot has set in.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot yeah, I think without a grounding of culture from the 60s onward it's hard to understand how badly things have deteriorated.
     
     And "culture" means more than just TV. It used to be the bad elements of society would infect people when they were younger, but they could be pulled out as they grew up, which was the origin of the boomer "wait until they get a job" and the vile with which "yuppie" is given.
