   I fucking hate normies. Why aren’t they getting outraged at things like this?

   I send these links to my parents but they just don’t care. They just don’t fucking care that our civil liberties are being trampled into the dirt in the so-called “free world”.

   All my dad said about it was “What do you want me to do? I don’t vote for the Tories”. Idiot doesn’t realise that Labour does this kind of thing as well.

   It makes me despair, it really does.

     it's all quite a mess. best one can do imho is continue to educate the public, in simple ways, text, video, just my two bits.
     
     although at times, even taking and condensing complicated things is difficult, and sometimes my own head feels like its going to kerplode. lol. nice verbiate degeneration and assimilation of kablooey and explode, there quinn.
     
     like, I started writing an article on the federal reserve the other day, and ended up just quoting 200pages (select quotes, not 200 pages) from G. Edward Griffin's "Creature," book and feel although the storyline and exposition and illustrated scenarios are important, and it's a lot easier and more accessible than reading 200, or even 600 pages of the full book in paperback or pdf, we have to assume most people are at an even more fractured attention span then they were in high school, in no small part to factors like raising families, stressful work life, actual brain damage through decades of fluoride, processed food, substance abuse and the like, and ---- the attention span is either irrevocably long and diminished in a quasi permanent catatonia, or it's apt and rapt, OR standard variety is somewhat of weeeelll that's interesting, but you've now hit me cognitive dissonance button, and i'm scared i understand it and it's worse than what i've read so far, so lets just turtle again, *closes page.*
     
     I think the single most disruptive thing someone could do is provide an accessible, easy to use tool that dismantles the very heart of the matter - dependence on central bank issued cartel currency. at the local community level.
     
     there's a thingy ive been trying to get off the ground for years, but cannot code my own way out of a wet paper bag..said thingy, if used - would likely achieve this... in some respect or other. feel free to ask me about it.

     @tyil @Hyolobrika we see this especially with banksters who ruin the entire economy and get regulated up the ass until everyone forgets the personal experiences of people who were fucked by the poor management of banks. then they "well its stable now so lets let go of it" and shortly after everything kerplodes again.
     
     i dunno the names of these scenarios.
     
     i think there's a lot of people tired of this crap but its very difficult to make a dent.

It's just a valid question to ask. you need a call to action to motivate people and the glowies provide one (be scared, just surrender.) conservatism is on the back foot because there often isn't one of those. especially since if people haven't experienced the reason why a safeguard was installed they will succomb to a bias that its outdated or whatever.
     
     i remarked about this during the last current thing. its difficult to argue about an intervention while in the middle of it. people will say "nobody died of corn pones so there's no reason to regulate it" even though the regulation might have prevented deaths.

     @modpod @meso @Hyolobrika I think barter when it can be leveraged is great, but I think currency gives you a base numbering system upon which to valuate goods and services. Without it everything is subjective. If someone sells me a bale of straw for 5 bucks, and I can convince them to trade me a dozen eggs instead that's great, but there's also the possibility that they have chickens producing eggs at home and would do better with feed which I may or may not be able to produce. It's kind of like all mathematics. Most people always use a base 10 numbering system. Computers often use base 2, 16, 32, 64, and other systems. You need to translate one to the other before you can operate on them in an equation. This is the underlying purpose of currency as I see it.
     
     The problem with the dollar (and centralized fiat currencies generally) is that it is easily manipulated and the supply side is an open wound with incentive to bleed (government borrowing is minting new money). By using a currency with a set of rules everyone must abide by we can exchange our services for a value we think is appropriate with people who may not need or want what we are offering in exchange.
     
     Barter whenever possible is king though

     i think it's high time we buck the nip and do something different.
     
     i'm constantly refining the idea, i just need a few good folks to help code the vision and make it come alive.

     the first one yes. i think the military is heavily invested into it, for various infrastructure things, and likely VC backing.

     it's not quite what i mean.
     
     i literally mean a website that looks like craigslist (albeit without predefined categories), that lets people search for what they want based on keyword and location, and returns people who have tagged that thing in their profile as a service or available goods on hand. they then message, and negotiate their terms..
     
     a bit more to it, but with built in dispute resolution team, site-wide stats for competency in honoring their agreements, and a two thumbs up system (one on each end) once terms are amenable....

     eventually, the dispute resolution mechanism pays the dispute resolution team, after ensuring the server keeps running, (its rather expensive and i foot the whole thing myself monthly, at the moment..)
     
     and from then on, those folks get paid out on a basis of tickets they resolve, and meanwhile they help people learn to barter and trade.
     
     the big takeaways here are we have entirely too much reliance on central banks , but im abstracting it a bit further , and i feel after studying this on and off for 20 years and following the patterns, many people will soon starve and or be unable to afford other critical needs, if a system like this is not levied into play as soon as humanly possible.
     
     i have seen this whole thing (the site) in my head for years now, and wanted to write a book 15y ago called "how to really take away their power, living in a world without money, a general treatise." but figure it would have gotten me killed back then.
     
     Besides, it's evolved- and new strategies are not only needed but warranted, for the best outcome possible-
     
     
     people in local areas will get to know those in their community, crime will drop, fear of going outside will drop, people will begin to make actual friendships based on common need and common interest, people will get out of the house more and interact, people will be able to gain a new skill - of doing something they haven't done before and gaining self confidence, ----- people will slowly but surely realize power really does come from numbers and interacting together, and the "game" will never be won if they always just slop up the stuff the dictators in "charge" say, and spew out endlessly ad nauseum.
     
     point being: there are other facets of the site, but this therein above describes the largest, albeit i cannot code my way out of a wet brown paper bag for sack lunch, so there are more hands on deck needed.
     
     There's currently one gent in italy anyone joining would be working with, who is an xmr/monero dude, and really- i want to keep the thing as simple, secure, and scalable as possible... and have it work on mobile devices, as well.
     
     throw out everything you might know about making a big fancy site, and just get back to what guarantees the results. think simple perl, ajax, mysql, html5, and the like..
     
     help architech something truly beautiful as a gift to the world, and watch it take off like a wild fire, (but a useful fire, in this case.)

     @modpod @meso @Hyolobrika I agree with you. I think bartering is a good thing, and working on providing a bartering framework for people is an awesome goal. I am just saying that as you put it one size doesn't fit all and that's kind of where currency is supposed to fill the gaps. I also don't think forcing people to use a particular currency is right. That's essentially what we have today, and the currency we're trading in more than anything is backed by nothing but debt and promises of more debt.
     
     It seems in your proposal you haven't completely written off a value exchange using currency since arbitration will require some kind of locked up value which will be paid out to conflict resolving humans.
     
     I like the idea. I kind of want to do the same thing, but with monero. My next big project once I have a better grasp on some of the math behind monero is to actually look at integration with existing point of sales systems used in brick and mortar stores so that I might be able to convince physical locations to accept it. I want to see monero used for the most mundane of things. I think a lot of people see it as exclusively a DNM currency, but if it were accepted by Joe's bait and tackle that'd be pretty awesome in my opinion.

     i will say this. i feel through much thought, observation specifically of peoples critical thinking abilities from the highest gradients of "intellect" to the lowest common denominator, cannot reason oneself to decide what to eat for dinner, so flips a coin or asks a friend,
     
     getting all of these 'standardized' to a metric therein of which and as it pertains to ''new standards for currency.'' as you put it, is going to be neigh impossible.
     
     the largest problem is attempting to come up with a one sized fits all, for it never will.
     
     secondarily to -largest problem- is by forcing this even once standardized and with the best of intentions, it will never fit all, and thus becomes a new type of codices or protocols, and the base methods are likely no better in/from a subjective mental precipice of the potential average citizen. it's still a set of rules, and when it doesn't fit, it doesn't satisfy the human need for self reliant customization and "wiggle."
     
     that, i believe is where barter really shines, and people need not feel disenfranchised, simple bidirectional communication between the interested parties, is all that's required.
     
     
     once you make the deal, you make the deal. carry through on it, and it's over with. you got what you wanted, and they did too. can negotiate back and forth as much as you need to, before hitting the thumbs up button to finalize that you liked what the other party ended up presenting, in your discourse with eachother.
