     Mineclone is fine, nodecore is IMO better.
     Honestly Factorio will scratch the itch better and it's DRM-free.

     I don’t own Factorio, but I had an old coworker who loved the game

     @Brycicle Minetest itself should be thought of as an engine, not a game.
     I heard that they're apparently no longer shipping a base game with it to try to prevent that misconception.
     The base game for minetest, last I played it, really only had the problem of having basically nothing in it; you could burn coal and sand to make glass, IIRC, and that was about it.
     Whereas mineclone2* is actually a Minecraft clone, and has most of it, at least in the earlygame; I think redstone and diamond (and thus the nether) weren't in it, nor villagers - but maybe I just didn't go far enough to find any. That was like 2-3 years ago though.
     *mineclone5 is an abandoned fork of mineclone2 or something. Many such cases.

     @Suzu @Brycicle It scales really nicely.
     Also I want to play it in multiplayer, because context-switching between building and bug extermination is the only bad thing in the game.

     @Zerglingman @Brycicle when you have a tank you start just stramrolling bug nests, and then I put turrets everywhere so I don't need to worry defending instead of building.

     @Suzu @Brycicle The turrets can't hold vs. expansion. It only works if you regularly clear out the camps.
     Also I am very salty that flying robots won't rearm turrets. If I see a mod for that I'll probably get it, I count it under QoL.
