@Zerglingman @jihadjimmy @lina @meso one time I was rushing around, getting ready to go on a business trip, when I noticed that my cat was under an end table, making that chirping noise they make when they've caught something. So I sighed, put down my suitcase, and wrestled the cat for her prize.

It was a small gray bird with a beak like a parrot, still in good condition, no blood or broken wings or anything. Quick as I could, since I did not have time for this shit, I took the stunned bird over to a neighbor lady who had birds and asked her to take care of it for me, since she knew about birds and I was leaving town, etc. She quickly agreed.

When I got to my destination and had a few spare minutes, I googled around and found out that this bird was a gray parrot, worth about $900. When I asked the old lady what happened to the bird when I got back, she got all shifty-eyed and said she gave it away because it was too aggressive with her other birds. "Gave it away" my ass. That old coot sold it on ebay, it was worth a month's rent plus 50 bucks for groceries at the time. Oh well, live and learn.
