     The 8chan exodus happened for a reason; and there's a good reason why after cuckflare fucked over 8chan, Joshes imageboard flopped, and Mark's struggled due to drama that people speculated why 4chan is much easier to host than 8chan: aside from the obvious feds part it's rumored that the internet hall monitors want 4chan to be the only imageboard, and also the most easily controlled. You've heard the stories about compromised mods and especially on /pol/, how /v/ mods flip shit about certain game discussion, and of course the fact /qa/ has been shutdown for nearly a year because members raided /lgbt/ with soyjaks (leading to the soyjak.party offshoot site).
     
     There's also a reason for this and that is 8chan /pol/ and especially their offshoots getting shit done at the same time 4chan jannies were shutting down threads like the HWNDU saga and Right Wing Safety Squads (when /pol/ reported shitty warehouse flophouses/"diy spaces" to landlords and the fire department after the Ghost Ship fire). This part of the internet cannot rise up, it has to stay rageposting on /pol/ daily.
     
     Also Hiro had scandals as owner of 2chan as well and there was a theory that Hiro was going to be datamining 4channers as well in some circles. Jim talked about it when it happened.

     I'm not sure it's a fed honeypot, but I've heard better theories with more weight as to what the site is used for. Namely; the sites used to launder dox on people groups hate.

     If anything I think the only reason KF is running into pressure from webhosts and mad Big Tech employees instead of the feds is they hate it far more than the government does.
     
     The one person KF usually doesn't go after are government officials and people in that area, unless they're laughing at politicians or raging about them, and the last time a user made an ironic edgy threat towards the government (before the false flag posts) he wound up with an FBI visit after the feds asked Josh for info on him. If they were threatening big dogs in the government, you'd see shit like the Vertias DoJ raid or the Alex Jones lawsuits.
     
     Big tech on the other hand absolutely hates the site making fun of ex-Google employees and their fucktoys online.

     On the other hand, the biggest problem with KF and Chudbuds is the very "in your face fight everyone" community, since at least Poasties and weeb instances have an unwritten code of rules to follow and you'll be safe. Those two websites don't even have that, one day you're fine and the next you're getting chewed out by other users over some minor thing.
     
     This has hampered user growth and creativity and left many users on KF in particular as lurkers, because contributing runs a real risk you'll get fucked over if you get deep enough into the community.

     @Xeraser @PhenomX6 pretty much pointed out the main reasons. It was in decline for over a decade and the death knell was the gamergate exodus. Don't deny them their vidya or fag it up, otherwise you will awaken a sleeping giant and fill it with terrible resolve.
     
     I'm still not keen with this twitter format, I do prefer the other image boards, but I admit the federated imageboard webring's activity has been slowed down to a crawl with the fucking gayops running it to the ground.
