There’s something so satisfying about an authoritative switch

hee hoo 🤡
nah but for real me too, I fucking hate all these screens and lights on modern machines. Off switches on the panels too. When something is set to "OFF" it should be off, not on standby, not flashing some dingus red light. -

If I want something or someone's take on a machine's usage, I will crack open the manual, which was written by a flesh and blood human being possessed of a sublime human spirit. -

Their flap actuator is just a 3-foot long E-brake handle. Feels awesome when you’re gettin’ sporty with it and you get that feedback as you pull it from one stop to another
I just love the style, too, they really knew how to make you feel like a king for flying one

So many planes are hardly changed since they were built, so it provides an interesting window into how premium things used to be. Piper used to really give you something pretty, they appreciated you for buying their stuff. Just look at their cute little pedals, something you never see or interact with. The one on the right is a Cessna pedal.
No one ever sees this stuff though, I’m constantly pointing out the decline like this to “eh, I don’t care”. Well I do, you pay damn good money and all you get today is barebones, shitty, ambivalent, “yeah whatever dumbass here’s your grandpa’s plane for half a million, suck it” without even the gratitude they used to give you. The little touches make the ownership experience like this.
