@Mark I remember when the conbinis played that game of "10% if you eat in-store, 8% if you carry out" and people just lied for a 2% discount and there was nothing they could do about it. Good times.
@Jens_Rasmussen JGov is poised to jack up income tax to (attempt to) fill a yawning budget chasm, right around the same time inflation & stagnant wages are cutting into family budgets. Prime Minister's popularity polls are in the toilet over it. So taxes are definitely on peoples' minds.
@Jens_Rasmussen Even by that standard, Kishida might be lowering the bar. His party may ask him to step down before the next general election on the grounds that he's ballot box poison.
Of course, if he doles out some helicopter money to the public & calls a snap election, he might buy himself a few years.
