I watch an ep like 2-3 years ago and it was abysmal, absolutely terrible. I keep saying it: Unironically, modern Family Guy is still way better than the latest Simpsons eps
@coolboymew@Hoss Last I checked, modern Family Guy is still at least a version of Family Guy - not a *good* version mind you, but still recognizable as being the same show as post-cancellation Family Guy.
The Simpsons has been a disgusting zombie for like 20 years by now.
@Hoss@coolboymew Modern Family Guy is awful. Joe is nothing more than a continuous paraplegic joke, Meg is now slated to being a psychotic loner type teetering between that and being obnoxiously socially domesticated, Brian is completely insufferable and is written to be hated instead of just being written to be good, Stewie is just a fag, Lois is an always-right-alpha-woman, Chris jerks off and that's his whole personality now, Peter is Peter, I mean what can you expect after decades on-air? Rather them pull it.
Modern Family Guy is slop, but it's at least flavorless slop. This is actually unpleasant slop. Watching more than a few minutes of that would give me a headache.
@coolboymew@Hoss family guy at least has the "funny moments" videos, maybe an episode someone will discuss once in a while (the dog getting hit by a car episode), and more "le ironic" memer references as of late, like the AI family guy stream or AI covers (vid related) Peter Griffin and Neco Arc Sing Somebody That I Used To Know
@ChristiJunior@coolboymew@Hoss It's a cultural relic of the 80s and 90s. It's only still going because cable died and the networks needed an established brand to fill the slot.
@Owl@Hoss@coolboymew Which highlights just how bad modern Simpsons is. Yeah Family Guy characters have devolved over the years into just being recurring punchlines, but they're at least recognizable punchlines. Simpsons has reached a level of decay even beyond stuff like Family Guy and Spongebob.
@Hoss@ArdainianRight@Owl@coolboymew Even when the decline had begun in terms of character writing and storylines, the show was still relentlessly, effortlessly funny.
Zombie Simpsons is a genuinely miserable watch whenever I overcome my natural revulsion.
I mean, just compare your clip to this one from Season 9 (considered the shark-jumping season):
@Elf@Owl@Hoss@coolboymew I always like the Cowboy Bebop/Samurai Champloo formula of having 25ish episodes that were planned out from the beginning then just ending it there. Now even with anime its more common to just keep making a show as long as the money is flowing, just in 10 episode chunks.
@Owl@Hoss@coolboymew I feel like it is followed now and then. Isn’t that how the Japs generally do things? Make 12 episodes of one thing, then move onto the next?
@Owl@Hoss@coolboymew A show that is good after one season is uncommon. A show that is good for more than three seasons is rare. Often times it’s just best to get all your good ideas together for one season, and be remembered as lightning in a bottle.
@Elf@Owl@Hoss@coolboymew Most animes are just an advertisement for normies to get into the franchise, then put forth the effort for more easily, cheaply produced media like the books or comics.
@Owl@Elf@Hoss@coolboymew Yet the full might of hollywood, centuries of jewish media expertise remain completely outperformed by trash anime on every front
@WashedOutGundamPilot@Elf@Owl@Hoss@coolboymew Some may think this is hyperbole but anime is literally commercials. They have to buy their time slots and everything. That's why even absolute garbage doesn't get cancelled - the time is already bought. They're 12-24 episode ads meant to promote the main product - manga and novels - because that's the shit that people actually buy. And merchandise, oh man, I don't think the American mind can comprehend walking into a convenience store and seeing [currently airing anime waifu]'s face printed on half the products. I've seen 7/11s with entire sections dedicated to the constant churn of Uma Musume goods.
Now, that's not to say that anime can't have artistic merit, a lot of it certainly does, but it's still a commercial at the end of the day and understanding it as such helps to understand the industry as a whole.
Has it never struck you as odd that roughly 3,000 disks sold is considered a moderate success?
Finally, original anime tend to have dedicated slots intended for arts and culture, like Noitamina. But not even these depend entirely on disk sales.
@boburtle@Owl@WashedOutGundamPilot@Hoss@coolboymew Just because something paints a world you want to live in, does not also mean that the piece is necessarily aligned with your best interests. Don’t get too sucked in that your life and growth are neglected, fren.
@Elf@Owl@WashedOutGundamPilot@Hoss@coolboymew Fair enough. I get that the Japs are spiritually Aryan but their blood is still alien enough to Whites that it wouldn't be fair to either group if we mixed, we're both better off in our own homelands with our own folk. But there is something very soulful and endearing with some of that anime and they deserve credit for it at least.
@WashedOutGundamPilot@Owl@Elf@Hoss@coolboymew The only time I've ever seen women speak or carry themselves with feminine grace is in street interviews done with White women in the 1950s and interviews done with Japanese women today. Between that and the fuzzy feeling I get when I watch wholesome anime, I am 100% certain the Japs have soul
@boburtle@WashedOutGundamPilot@Elf@Hoss@coolboymew I'm starting to see evidence otherwise of this claim. There are some media industry creatives in Japan that keep catering to soulless Western sensibilities.
@Owl@boburtle@Elf@Hoss@coolboymew They're already in the process of falling, the eye of ZOG will not allow something to capture its audiences so easily. They've already done their own studios and pushed for the same shit we have here. The japs are too naive and gullible, they WILL fall for every money and propaganda trick.
Just look at their culture today, we basically steam-formed them into their current unnatural cultural shape in the post-war period. They underwent MASSIVE societal shifts in the span of a generation just because the occupying forces told them to. At least this shift will give them zogbux
