@nugger Not sure if you're aware of this nugger but here's a blackpill on top of that. Look into "glulam". It's an industry term, the generic term is "engineered timber" or something similar. It's the same principle as this stuff but it's USED STRUCTURALLY TO REPLACE STEEL (yeah I know) and there's a "very promising" niche for it in 4-5 storey apartment type developments. I work in a relevant industry and hear about this stuff a lot. It's already being used and nobody knows what the long term effects might be either from the glue off-gassing or possibly it causing structural issues as the materials degrade. Look into it

@interalia @nugger it's been used for a bunch of big projects in scandinavia, they're very proud of the technique. also several of those projects have collapsed so far
evidently, engineers doing computer simulations failed to account for the anisotropic nature of wood. which is exactly what I'd expect from modern engineers
