     @Humpleupagus Why even use Samba? SFTP works with Windows they even have clients so it acts basically the same.

     Samba is gross.

     I don't recall how long back, but it is available. There may be a few dependencies that need to be installed first, but it can be done right in the properties menu for a folder iirc. Personally, I prefer sshfs for remote mounts, but my xerox printer at my office uses samba for scanning for example, so I had to do what I had to do.
     
     He may need to look at the dolphin add ons. I remember that I once ran across a build where dolphin didn't have sftp because it was missing an add on.

     It's what's available on that model. It's an industrial office printer. It's four feet tall with 6 trays and a lcd display and a 500 page double sided feeder. Scan to folder requires samba.

     @Zerglingman @Humpleupagus I can’t remember the exact date, and maybe it’s been going on later than I thought, but there was that huge controversy because the troons wanted to change “offensive language”.

     People who should be more knowledgeable than me brushed me off, so at least to them it wasn’t.

     @Zerglingman @Humpleupagus I was also going to ask I have a USB printer/scanner and I have no issues so I am wondering do they have no firmware available for linux? Nothing hacked together by nerds even? Because there’s a lot of nerds out there.

     It scans to a samba folder on a file server. I just stuck plasma on there, because sometimes I'm lazy. If I can set up samba through a gui and it's faster than manually setting it up and editing smb.conf, yeah... I'm doing that.
     
     And plasma has some nice gui tools that can work faster than cli at times, like krename in some circumstances.
     
     Remember, this is for work, and I'm trying to work as little as possible. 😏

     Generally though, I use a lot of simple scripting. Like earlier an opposing party dumped a bunch of screen shots on me, so I wrote a script to convert to pdf and then merge based on certain attributes, so I could make trial exhibits..
     
     So whether I use gui or cli is really use case.
