     I'm talking about the technology boomers in this case; the same ones who thought OLPC was a good idea.
     
     There were stories of kids using them for porn, laptops being stolen, and most of all, people just not using them in favor of normal PCs or Netbooks.

     I have a classmate PC I got from ewaste but the thing is so sealed it's fucked if the CMOS battery goes (which it will).
     
     I should get one some day I have a collection of weird computer hardware, including an ia64 server.

     If you want a SPARC you can either make a FPGA SPARC or find a Sun Blade 100/150/Ultra 5/10. Those are the cheapest Sun machines on the used market.
     
     I've never heard of the GA144, I'm not sure where you can buy one. I do have a RISC-V SBC coming in the mail though. I only got my IA64 boxes via being at a recycler years ago, I did have a friend of mine RDP into one and SSH into the other.

     for ages ive wanted to get my hands on a GA144 but ive never wanted to scrounge up the 600 dollars for an evalboard or find 9 other people to buy the chip itself. ive also wanted a sparc for ages but theyre not so common in the UK

     Yep, it's in Open Firmware/Openboot used in SPARC, the OLPC, and PPC (IBM and Apple) machines. Too bad later IBM machines gimped it.

     @PhenomX6 @atomicpoet @Moon @dielan to get a board u need 600 dollars and that comes with two chips and a way to program them. to get a chip u need to order 10 and that costs 200 dollars
