Rasterman (rasterman@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 03:29:56 JST Rasterman Scouting Twitter this morning, looking for what the international accounts have to say about Milei.
Some make right wing memes dabbing on leftists.
Others go into schizophrenic rants about the dangers of fascism.
And some in the right insist this guy is bad news for the country because he likes jews.
None of those groups would have given a shit if communist gangster Massa had won instead. :blobthinkingcool:-

You have those things in airports, the admiral’s club is awesome in browner airports

We have Petrobras here, it used to be a nest of corruption, but after some cleaning up things look to be doing fine.
I think it's dangerous to give away the right to exploit the natural resources of the country to a private company, TBH. -
Rasterman (rasterman@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 03:29:51 JST Rasterman @Suzu @mischievoustomato @MechaSilvio Yeah, I have objections to Milei. Even dollarisation is not something I would've wanted, but there are understandable reasons for it.
However, we are in no position to complain now. I hope any privatisations are done right.
Back when I was a lolbert in 2014, I remember Milei fans wanting public parks privatised. "For a moderate fee, you'll get access and it'll have food stands, free wi-fi, flower gardens, &c". In practise, our equivalent of Amazon would buy the park and use it to store goods or the owner would ban you from entering because of ideological reasons. :tiresome : -
Johnny Peligro (mischievoustomato@5dollah.click)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 03:29:52 JST Johnny Peligro it's an oil company thingy? Here in Peru we have PetroPeru which is nothing but a source of huge corruption -
Rasterman (rasterman@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 03:29:53 JST Rasterman @mischievoustomato @MechaSilvio I go to Twitter and see the likes of Ian Miles Cheong and Nick Fuentes' catboys saying Milei is controlled opposition. Meanwhile no one knows or cares that we almost legit turn into a socialist dictatorship like Venezuela. Massa wasn't even hiding it.
They were also using our version of the CIA to spy on political opponents. :pepesmug: -

Berlusconi Anime Fever :sonnenrad: (mechasilvio@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 03:29:55 JST Berlusconi Anime Fever :sonnenrad: @Rasterman Like what happens with Russia or China, most English speakers don't really get South American politics.
Great takes like "Argentinians will regret in 10 years when they get all that immigration and the US inflation hahahaha"
Meanwhile Rasterman is today in a train surrounded by 50% of Bolivia and Peru's criminals already, and he would beat the shit out of you to get only American inflation.
(Yeah the new president is 100% a Washington groomed asset but the lack of context hits hard. Same with Chavez, Morales and the rest of the SA mafia) -
Rasterman (rasterman@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 03:29:55 JST Rasterman @MechaSilvio You get it. :0490:
For additional context: after the initial round of voting, it was down to Milei vs Massa. The latter is a leftist with ties to drug traffickers, wanted to deploy a centralised digital currency, regulate social media, expand taxes for the middle class and I hear there were talks about introducing insect-based diet, in a country historically known for its cows. :pepedisappoint: And that's without addressing he's the current minister of economy who obliterated any value the peso had before he took over in the span of ONE year. Also spent 15 billion dollars in his political campaign paid with taxpayer money.
The take that Milei is a Zionist, therefore there's nothing to see here, is the take of outsiders who have nothing to lose nor gain either way.
Would average Joes in the US have done better with Hillary? :blobthinking: -
Rasterman (rasterman@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 05:44:25 JST Rasterman @PraxisOfEvil English speakers are likely not informed at all beyond the memes they've seen, so it's no surprise they can't explain.
It's not dollarisation per se, but a free competition of currencies. Milei refers to it as dollarisation in most speeches because, he says, Argentinians have already chosen their currency and it's the US dollar. Everyone saves in US dollars. It's been like that since as long as I can remember. Therefore, freeing the restrictions that prohibit citizens from purchasing more than 200 USD per month, will result in people organically moving to the US dollar.
But that's impossible, if it were to be done right now, because there are not enough reserves. There enters the IMF and economist jargon about certain assets that can be used to enable this freeing of the restrictions. I've seen Milei explain that like five times already, but I'd lie if I said I remember how it goes. It was a key argument in the first presidential debate, where the other candidates had no plan on how to stop the 150% inflation.
Most people here don't trust crypto for reasons (right or wrong) evoking the 2001 crisis. And it's impossible to use a gold-backed currency when there's no gold.
Those solutions might come at a later date; but right now it's imperative to stop inflation. No one cares about anything else.
tl;dr
the dollar is the only way right nowWoggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this. -
🎄 Rick 🎄 (praxisofevil@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 05:44:26 JST 🎄 Rick 🎄 @Rasterman Still waiting for any lolbert to tell me why Milei wanting to make the dollar the Argentinian currency instead of moving the crypto or gold is really in line with true libertarian values -
Rasterman (rasterman@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 10:08:17 JST Rasterman @apropos @PraxisOfEvil Wait, does Youtube not take into account the value of the money? So you get a red superchat if you donate 100 USD or 100 ARS (10¢ USD)? -
Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 10:08:17 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks @Rasterman @apropos @PraxisOfEvil something like that, but it’s not 1:1. Might be pegged to some kind of parity, so 20 usd of another currency is counted like 100 USD
I suspect they leave it because it’s novel to see funky money come through and americans have so little exposure to foreign currencies they like seeing it, even if it works out to all of three bucks

Rasterman (rasterman@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 10:08:18 JST Rasterman @apropos @PraxisOfEvil :gordonramsay_wtf: What do vtubers have to do with the ARS? :alexjoneswat4: -
of nothing (apropos@freespeechextremist.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 10:08:18 JST of nothing @Rasterman @PraxisOfEvil vtubers receive superchats, and tend to respond more to high-value superchats. 'Red' superchats for example start at $100 USD. But, that's only for USD. For other currencies, lesser amounts (converted into UDS) can still result in a red superchat.
In this community ARS is infamous because people will donate extremely small amounts of money to get a RED SUPERCHAT OMG. -
of nothing (apropos@freespeechextremist.com)'s status on Tuesday, 21-Nov-2023 10:08:19 JST of nothing @Rasterman @PraxisOfEvil people complaining about dollars without knowing about ARS are making a darker version of the aphorism about not letting 'perfect' be the enemy of 'good'.
Don't flee deeper into Hell to escape a minor devil? Don't chain yourself to a sinking anchor because your boat has a leak?
Me, *I* know about ARS because I watch vtubers.
