     best i could do for ordinary computing was get my mom on a bloatware free windows 10 enterprise install and include the machine in my patch management and backup tools. and a business laser printer rather than these awful consumer inkjets.

     @roboneko @PhenomX6 my criteria is that no browser is good and I just gave up and settled with brave since it has the most useful features built-in but I do have Firefox too just in case some website is broken on chromium for whatever reason

     that depends on the criteria. if the concern is "google strangling the web" than literally anything that works in an even half assed manner and isn't based on chromium is better

     you're always 1 website vulnerability away from leaking them
     Also wasn't there an exploit just like this for getting peoples fedi passwords? Some shit that would fool the browser into auto filling a form with your username and password right?

     @djsumdog @skylar there's high end inkjets but they exist for print shops and maybe businesses. I'm talking 13x19 printers, 6+ color printers, and ofc designjets.
     
     They're only good if you do photo printing and all tbh.

     real laser printers are totally worth it. I found an HP LaserJet 200 Color years ago on Craigslist in Chicago; law office going out of business/closing down. I got it for $100, including half full toner. I don't print all that much (it was like 3 years before I replaced the toner) but I know it's not a piece of shit desk/ink jet that's designed to break in 3 years.
