     I think it's interesting how they tend to not stick to a mold when designing them, so you get interesting stuff like flexible claws (Digimon do this and it's good).
     
     Also body types can vary quite a lot, as opposed to just being "same old same old bipedal body" and you can see it everywhere from anime to communities on Pixiv/Twitter making doujins and all.

     The short version: in 2017 some antifa fatass furry who paid money to get art of her fursona beating up someone elses fursona managed to get a furcon canceled for threatening to beat people up at the con and so furries were pissed off at her. She decided to spin it into "THESE PEOPLE ARE OPPRESSING ME" and this LARPing journalist who had media connections (possibly from family members 😂) decided to go around and seed to the media stories about how "NAZIS ARE TAKING OVER THE FURRY FANDOM" and making things worse is the fact that the opposition was a bunch of mouthbreathing /pol/ rejects mixed with being the easiest people in the world to gayop.
     
     Over time both older furries would try to go leftist to appease the mob (see Dragoneer) and outsiders looking for a new scene to join would join and Zoe Quinn would later get furry art with said furry.
     
     The end result? A homogeneous fandom that has no creativity but sucks in people looking for a community.

     Most of them wound up in very homosexual gayops and I mean homosexual as shit. Aside from their chats being loaded with edgelords posting shit along the lines of "I fucking HATE black people and LOVE Islam (when they're oppressing women and not me for being gay)" (in between furry porn) or average poastie takes, literally every single one of their chats had at least one screencapper which managed to turn away anyone there who was tolerating it just to be with people sick of the people leading the fandom. To quote someone else in one of the groups near it describing a lot of the groups under that banner or similar, "wrangle your tards".
     
     I've heard some of the people in said groups would turn out to be actual zoophiles later.
     
     But most importantly, they never created shit and had zero goals aside from "we hate these people", no plans, and whatnot. They were only looking for another generic edgy posting group because /pol/ would laugh at them for being furries, that's it.
     
     The reason pushback against the left in that scene crumbled hard as shit too is because nobody in the mainstream right gives two shits and a fuck about furries because they're of course literal autists or have a reputation as such.      That's pretty much why. The end result of the events in 2017-8 is that they've made a great rebranding effort as a more explicitly political thing. If you think I'm kidding put it this way, Ash Coyote (boyfriend...er...now girlfriend of Chip Foxx, creator of a furry blocklist on Twitter) made a documentary whitewashing the fandom and refocusing it as a "sex positive LGBT community" with leftist values.
     
     The newer blood in the fandom doesn't care what it was originally about, or even what it was about 10 years ago, or about talking animals or art. They just want fame and the path of least resistance. You can tell because they copy off each other and whine at each other for doing so instead of drawing influence from some movie/video game with talking animals, like when artists who grew up with Sonic were influenced by that style.

     Deleted some things and took a internet break unfortunately. Which seems par the course for furry artists since few of them have the balls to stand up to the mob. I hope she's out there and rebranded.
     
     I mean a few do and usually they just ignore the mob instead of replying to it these days because these people are cutthroat, and when you have nobody to stand up to you like she did it's likely very easy to get demoralized when you went all in on a community that has proven time and time again they will not stand up for you in a time of crisis.

But they'll kick you out as some troon strikes you as well if you piss that crowd off, so if I ever ended up going to them I'd likely have to have hidden cameras or some shit to avoid mental cases trying to fuck me up.

     Yep it's almost a meme at this point that furries handle drama the absolute worst, usually by deleting shit online and all thinking it'll go away. I know another one accused of being a Nazi because he used to post on Iron March forums years ago and furries still cancel him over this even though he disavowed and converted to Orthodoxy, likely because he didn't give up his moral compass from that part of the web.
     
     The comic artist I mentioned who was denied tables at AC literally wound up disavowing the furry scene afterwards and pointing out how they handle sex pest scandals as opposed to political wrongthink, and speculated part of the reason why they (said comic is produced by a couple) were barred from AC is they wound up making a post shitting on how the fandom covered up shit like the Zoosadist scandal and other sex pests in the fandom, which is a years long problem that was unaddressed by the political shakeout.
     
     Instead however after the antifa crusaders defeated the "Nazis" they became puriteens/similar and other Twitter creatures who cancel each other for drawing "problematic" art based on some made up standards, becoming the trolls they whined about 10 years ago. This has led to some hilarious infighting on the ethics of drawing porn as someone who said all the right things gets canceled for talking about the wrong porn drawings. Just like the ones on this side of the fedi, none of them ever go after real pedophiles or even when they do, it's after going after 100 people for drawings for every one actual pedo.
     
     Someone I know online loves to fuck with people like this, going after people whining about "feral" (basically anything quadruped or increasingly on model at this point) or saying that "if it walks on 4 legs it's zoophilia even if it's sentient and can talk" by going through their FA/E621 favorites until they find eeveeloution or MLP porn, sending it to their friends, and watching the chaos unfold. I wish I was kidding but that's exactly just how braindead that community is now, we're just a little over 10 years away from a massive fandom existing around a show with quadruped talking ponies.

The furry fandom had zero gatekeeping, zero pushback, zero normie filters (unless you came in with anything anthropomorphic that wasn't based on an animal, until suddenly it was trendy when an artist (who wasn't even a furry but only uploading there because it was the only NSFW art community for a while) popularized it), it was literally "here's a wide open door literally walk on in". Their only response to the crazy people in the fandom using it for sex was "we do not do this" before it became "it happens and it's a good thing" after having AIDS testing signs up at cons.
     
     Look at pic related and ask if you want your community to turn into this too. Pushback and gatekeeping stops this.

     Oh right, while we're at it: Rainfurrest 2015. I mentioned what happened in 2017 but I never mentioned the glorious shitshow of Rainfurrest 2015, or the moment the trashfire of furcons flashed over. Imagine the biggest degenerates in Seattle/the PNW, a part of the USA known for babyfurs within the fandom before it became known for eternal antifa protests, decided to hold a con and trash the fucking place up. Used diapers on the ground/parking lot, fetish gear in public, vandalism to the hotel to unreal levels, and being blackballed from every hotel after some pissed off furry reported them.

     I was watching it go down on Twitter when it happened. It was glorious. No other furry con trashfire has ever come close, but that's just because there are better PR people there to try to mop it up.
     
     Some con recently had a "cum pizza" incident, and there's other incidents like the FWA 2018 pup play incident or the infamous Tumbles the Stairdragon (who is a famous meme in that community).
