single zap
I touched my metal bed and it felt tingly, so I suspect this has something to do with me troubleshooting my guitar's grounding issues earlier.

@burner @tyler did it feel like AC and give you an angry tingle, or a single zap like static?
angry tingle means bad ground or the breaker would have immediately tripped. pull it off your wall and poke at it with your multimeter. in AC mode you should get ~120 volts between hot (black, red, or blue wire) and the ground, 0 volts between ground and neutral (white wire). ground will be bare copper or green, or if it's in a metal box instead of a plastic one, maybe just the box.
then put it in continuity mode and see if there's continuity between ground on the switch and the bottom middle hole of an outlet, or a copper water pipe if there's one conveniently nearby.
