  I think it's just people get the idea that love is only emotional.

  Any one of those or multiple ones or ones like them. Thing is eventually most of them feelings will fade or only reappear every once in a while. Love isn't emotion, love is a commitment and an action and even sacrificial. To love someone is to seek their betterment even if it costs you personally. Now that comes with the caveat that this desire to see someone else's betterment is mutual. If all the other side does is take then it's not really love, it's......idk, foolishness? Simping? Cuckoldry? Whatever you want to call it.
  
  I guess that is how I view love at least. I may not get butterflies as often as I used to or anything with my wife but I would die to protect her, simple as.
  
  I don't suspect Jesus was getting butterflies thinking about all of us ungrateful welps while he was nailed to a cross but he did it anyway out of love.
