     @sparky I remember that. It’s tough because as a guy, I fill my dwelling with trophies and hobbies, so it looks like I don’t know what “good” looks like. But making something suitable to impress strangers online isn’t fit for purpose.

     I just really REALLY hate these stupid trends and fads that the women get into. All they do is copy each other, they’re constantly cribbing ideas and ripping off whatever looks cool and popular, only to redo it all a few years later when they sense that they’re again behind the curve.

     I just want lasting quality, something that looks good now AND 50 years later

     "Trendy" that never gets redone looks far, far more cursed a generation later.

     The thing that really boils me is when they paint old heirlooms. The last thing good, beautiful old wood needs is a layer of gaudy turqoise paint to “reclaim” it. We had one bitch marry into the family and use a bunch of old heirloom pieces as a canvas to paint on (they were equally terrible)

     To this day it bugs me.

     Wife and I are both in agreement that the house should look like something our great-grandparents wouldn't feel out of place in. Neither of us have ever lived in (rent or owned) a place built before 1980, mostly for that reason.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @sparky I say this every day and every day it is just more true: I am blessed beyond measure when it comes to the wife, I swear.
     
     She has better taste than me, an actual artistic eye, and she's also absurdly deferent about final decisions on things... so I get better advice than I could come up with myself and nothing too dumb comes of it.

     @RupertvonRipp @sparky One of the better parts about having a lady around is her tiny, delicate hands and excellent color identification. There are times I’ve had projects I’m working on, like trying to match a color on a gun coating, and I’ll tap one of the girls to help get the mix closer than I think.

     Or little paint projects, I loved it when we’d have a tiny model kit and the sister would light up because it meant she could paint the little crew dudes

     I will fucking MURDER a bitch. The flippers we bought our first house from had painted over the cabinets that were original to the house and didn't even have the decency to use a shitty latex paint I could just peel off. Fucking oil, over stained heavy oak cabinets with router work. Unforgivable.
     
     Very excited to get the carpet ripped out and refinish the wood floors in current house.
