     Are we really that feminized? Is it because a lot of us ended up being socialized by our moms more than our dads? Maybe the worsening economy in our childhood had that effect, keeping him at work longer than he would have been otherwise.

     @Eiregoat I kept up with some of it b/c it helped fill up my 3 hour phone calls w/ grandma. She started calling one of the ladies in the family to take up that block so I’ve been free….but I’m not totally opposed to drama if it’s funny.

     When I consider it though, it seems like all non-professional media has this kayfabe network of rivals, enemies, and alliances. Everywhere I look it’s another inscrutable response to some other douche, nobody just does standalone content. I have to wonder if things would be like this 100 years ago.

     Like ralph stuff? I don't really follow it much. Mostly seeing personal drama in my news feed just bothers me. Although of course when it's someone I really fucking hate it feels good to hear about their demise.
     
     Maybe it's the lack of opportunity to physically settle disputes. Drama probably seems less interesting when you've fought a few duels.

     That linus rice burner guy with the tech youtube? He’s had it going on, there’s drama between his clique and the other techbros and they’re in the top echelons of youtube.

     Gaming has plenty of that drama, why else would anyone here know a single person in the corporate structure of bethesda games or sony?

     THere’s a gigantic time sink for white men in the form of that anti-disney, media “critique” sphere too, and that entire thing is just a drama delivery service

     And it’s ALWAYS been this way, just think back to car, gun, game forums and the drama those used to have!

     @WashedOutGundamPilot If you mean the eceleb drama, I think that's just a small clique of weirdos. I don't follow it beyond seeing mentions of it in my feed occasionally.
     
     Part of it is that this community selects for people who got attached enough to the right circa 2014 that they waded through like a dozen waves of censorship. There's more intersection between that group and people with unhealthy parasocial relationships than there is between ordinary men and people with unhealthy parasocial relationships.

     Ohhh, I know what you mean. I generally avoid channels like that. Closest I come is channels about financial scammers and criminals and such.
     
     Also occasionally I get recommended a video where it's a deep dive into some youtube scandal or other (usually propositioning underage fans) but I rarely make it to the end.

     @skylar @AmericanChampion Car stuff is rife with it. I remember all those silly sagas, like the shop that was broke and funding the builds in his shop with the new guys’ deposits

     or the passive “now SOME people on here hated that I did {thing on farm}, but here’s why they’re wrong and this is the right way to do it!”
