   @vriska @Moon @nyx I think it can feel personal if you are told you are the cause of the suffering of others when you know you aren't far off from their position in the first place. I have had some really rough patches in my life. I do now sit in a more comfortable position, but it's not because of the tone of my skin. If anything I'm now wondering how long I will be allowed to be a straight white male at a company obsessed with DEI[B].

     @Moon @nyx I also think maybe people take it personally when it's pointed out that sometimes people suffer because they jump to the conclusion that there's some imagined implication in that statement that is "some people suffer, so they're saying I don't suffer!" Which is sometimes what some dumb people say but there's this overly defensive element to it, it's taken personally

     Also I think you are totally deserving, far more than most
