   @Shadowman311 I wonder if there’s an interesting conversation to be had about protectionism, when that whole chicken-tariff-small pickup thing was supposedly done in a tit for tat trade battle. At what point should the gov step in, and where in each one of these levels?

   Now that the country’s filled to the brim with horribly inept shitskins, a tiny little kei-car truck like this is a death sentence. I saw a lot of these foreign shitboxes, where they’re small and cheap and “soooo cute I want one OMG” - until you see one hit the broadside of a wooden fruit cart at 25 mph and telescope the poor bastard’s femurs.

   I don’t think there’s any real point to this, I just don’t like seeing our guys romanticize death traps when I’ve seen firsthand how they utterly buttfuck your life with a single accident. The ZOGsystem that forces $40,000 cocoons is gay… but it does protect my white, irreplaceable family members from retardedly buying one of these and going off the rails from the ensuing spine injury/ perc addiction when they get hit&runned by a pot smoking squatemalan

   (this rant courtesy of hearing all the cousins talk about this truck nonstop whenever the car question comes up) My offer to them was they can get mini-trucks but they’re non-interstate, “farm use” thingies that have to be used w/in 150 sm from their home base

     @Shadowman311 Oh I got sidetracked on the safety issue, anyways IDK why they don’t just have a smaller, more compact Ranger.

     I have a theory that they simply haven’t HAD to make a cheap, tiny little truck because credit was so affordable for the average normie. Why waste your effort to make a truck variant of the Nissan Versa (once the cheapest car new in the USA) when all it takes to move on to something much safer, livable, and capable for all of fifteen bucks a month more?

     @givenup @Shadowman311 Mass counts for a lot. Small footprint means your entire body IS the crumple zone because the average brownoid in traffic is driving a car that weighs 4,500 lbs more than your cool affordable truck

     It wouldn’t be an issue if we were driving in america circa 1970, but we aren’t. The streets are a battlefield, and one accident can utterly ruin your life

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Shadowman311 a lot of these in the middle east (specifically egypt) get used as mini-tractors around farms for how cheap they are used there, similar use case to having them designated as "farm-use" vehicles, although I think they can be used reasonably within even small towns as a car.

     @givenup @Shadowman311 Sweet spot is the late aughts, because they beefed up side impact standards and you get curtain air bags in that rough timeframe. Adds enough survivability without the drawbacks of table-in-dash nonsense

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Shadowman311 i crashed a geo prism into a white guy's truck doing 50 cuz he pulled in front of me, crashed a ford taurus into an underpass and tore off the right front wheel entirely, the car before my last car, i hit a deer and hte insurance company just said "fuck it i'll give you this much for it" cuz repairing the damage was too spensive i guess.

If you’re first in line at a stoplight there ain’t much defensive action to take, other than watching the rearview and being ready to jump into the active intersection when the groid behind you doesn’t seem to be slowing down enough.

     If the cost differential was huge then there’d be a point. Instead I’m seeing tards pay $20,000 for POS vintage trucks that could buy something safer for the same or even less.

     @ferrarilegends @HWABAG @Shadowman311 Nobody on here owns anything TO tow, and might not ever soe the smaller truck seems more useful. Most guys just want to be able to camp and shoot, they don’t have to worry about ferrying their tractor out to the cousin’s or take the heifers to market

     @AidanTTIerian @Shadowman311 Some of it does, in terms of steel strength, the electronics, and inevitable union pricing baked in from the start. You can strike a balance between cost and utility, aim for something modern enough and you get the best of both worlds.

     We just sold an old “collectible truck” from the 90’s and faggots were tripping over themselves to pay $20,000 and up for it. All that old shit is getting just as costly as cars 20 years newer, and all the “cheap parts” are increasingly chinese repro shit anyways. They’re now “classics” with all the asspain that entails
