@ChristiJunior @RehnSturm256 My biggest takeaway from my recent replays is that 3H is a game that’s written by Japanese people who think they’re liberals but for the most part have illiberal priors and can’t correctly express what they think they believe. Because they are constantly, in all routes, trying to express egalitarian values and stumble ass first into being unintentionally based. All the characters who want revolution are spiteful mutants motivated by resentment and the people who want reform are virtuous, well rounded aristocrats basically in the mold of a philosopher king, not challenging the notion of a ruling caste but still wanting to uplift society. Lorenz is the most enjoyable character in this regard. It really feels like he was created just to eat humble pie and learn his lesson from the stronk womyn and poors, and it always seems like that’s where his supports are going in the “C” and usually “B” but by the end of pretty much every one he’s proven right or there’s a sort of “compromise” ending where he’s actually clearly in the right (or he’s just a total pussy slayer for no reason which is also based)

@ChristiJunior @RehnSturm256 My favorite unintentionally based thing in 3H is the Dorothea X Ferdinand support and ending. Ordinarily Dorothea is this really vile character, stuffed to the gills with grievances, a communist, and a really gross openly faggy slut, but if you pair them together he effortlessly sweeps her off her feet, proves her wrong about him, and makes her abandon all of her priors by not just marrying him and becoming a noble, the kind of person she used to hate most, but also a noble baby factory pumping out more nobles. I of course encourage strong caution before “I can save her”ing real life hoes but damn it all if it isn’t really cute when it all works out in fiction.

@jimmybuffettfanaccount One of the saving graces about FE and why I appreciate a lot of the paired endings and support chains (when written well) is how they can completely redeem characters. Like this one here with Dorothea and Ferdinand. Unfortunately my memories of the supports are super vague at this point in time, but for example Petra wasn't bad.
Tangentially related, Camilla and Suzukaze from FE:Fates/iF is another one of my favorite pairings. I know that game falls really short in the writing aspect but it takes two characters whose entire characters revolve around Corrin (in a lot of bad ways too) and makes them much more personal. I think it's because those two are finally "liberated" from being chained to Corrin (I know Suzukaze does it willingly but still), and they can focus on being their own person. Not to say it's like they cast a beloved family member aside, but it contributes to alleviating one of the issues of Fates: Its fixation on Corrin at the expense of every character's individual personalities. At least in 3H, the characters feel more involved in their own struggles and how it meshes into the overall conflict.
Oh yeah, Camilla and Suzukaze gives you a really cute weed daughter that makes a lot of money for mom and dad. :kekw:

@Cayhr @ChristiJunior @RehnSturm256 Can’t say I think back on any one particular part of fates character writing with much fondness or even really much clarity, but I do remember it was fun to pair characters who hated Nohr with Nohrians and characters who hates hoshido with hoshidans, love a good enemies to lovers meme.
