Trying to segregate yourself from the city is often naive, for you need to segregate from wider society. Every trend and value of a city will inevitably trickle down into your bubble even if you don't desire it, it's just a matter of when.
   "My city is degenerate and full of crime" means that your society is degenerate and full of crime, you just choose to live far enough away from wider society to choose not to see it. And, as of 2023, America is a incredibly materialistic and soulless and spiritually dead country.
