@SNEK@coolboymew Valve does this tho; no matter what the standard is they carefully note the pros/cons then come out with something that entirely eclipses the standard. Nintendo needs this swift kick in the ass anyhow they’re too comfy with their handheld gaming dominance surpassing a decade since the DS. thank you friend.
@coolboymew neat! I'm plenty fine with the Deck I already own, but very cool for folks that want one now .. the bigger battery life will be a huge seller for some people that travel with this, I'd imagine
@coolboymew hmmm so it did get a processor (APU) upgrade but said upgrade doesn’t seem to offer any processing power increase but rather more power efficency.
@coolboymew from what i recall there IS a processing power difference with the switch, gamefreak claimed their unoptimized crap DOES run better on the switch oled… while metroid prime remaster runs just the same on both switch versions…
@coolboymew damn, not gonna lie I want to get it, even though I have one already, just for sake of repurposing my current one either for arcade cab or to give it away to brothers.
@coolboymew PC games need to go back to being physical. I have a fw(r)iend who quit on Steam because he got denied access to a library of games shared by a friend, which, as I see it, is a valid point to how games being digital (instead of physical) is a bad idea.
As for this Steam Deck thing, maybe PC games could be like Nintendo's Game Cards? Surely there could be a medium that's basically a flash-storage device, but built specifically for the Steam Deck? As for how much those mediums could hold, well, I'm no expert, but seeing as we've already got SD cards that can hold terabytes of data, I don't see how it's outside the realm of possibility for these little mediums to hold shit-tons of space for optimal PC gaming experiences.
Sorry; I admit that my poast here might've gone off topic from the OP, but it's something I felt like throwing out there. 😅
@Dave55811 the thing is that the writing on the wall was already there back then for PC games. Patches not on CDs, limited online activation, one use Serial code for online multiplayer account and so on. And then the absolute space bloating of AAA being like 100GB min and nobody even having BD drives nowadays. Fuck, modern PC cases doesn't even have drive bays now
@confusedelectron@coolboymew You can always buy a USB disc-drive. But, I hear ya. I miss when PC's had disc-drives. If I'm ever to commit to PC gaming, I want my shit to be physical. But, since it's gone this far, I don't think we can go back. Thus, I remain a console peasant.
