     @graf @RupertvonRipp @Riamu I grew up with video games being a limited-time event, where they’d only come out of cold storage for a short time before going back in. Usually played in groups, too, so most of the time it was about splitscreen stuff where possible.

     I think I’ll do that, it’s a handy carrot to have on offer to get the kids to work hard.

     @RupertvonRipp @graf @Riamu I was able to smuggle a game boy for a time, I vividly remember the crushing, immense guilt when I noticed my pokemon save had reached 1394 hours. Something about that number made me feel like such a chump, spending that much time on something so silly

     Didn’t stop me from playing more, of course, only a dearth of AAA batteries did that.

     @nobullyplz @WashedOutGundamPilot @RupertvonRipp @Riamu when i was a child game saves didnt exist unless you had something like a game shark and gaming was limited enough that it was never wholly engrossing. now you've got games like skyrim you can dump 50 hours of your life into repeatedly
