I've made friends with a lot of new people since I realized American leftism was a dead end for stopping war and saving the middle and working class a number of years ago. Ironically I held out the longest with the political junkies because at least their strong opinions lined up more with mine in the things we hated. It's like when /r/shitneoconssay was a thing and it had Paleocons, communists, third positionists, and real leftists in it. Fun dialogue even with a lot of disagreement.
