madmax (pikachu_sensei@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 04-Nov-2023 15:16:37 JST madmax @itsfoss When I first saw the Linux filesystem, I literally thought /bin was the trash directory even though I knew few things about Android filesystem at the time and obviously they are quite different from each other but they had few similar elements.

I love how symbolic links are files, it makes it so easy to hack together an environment. But stuff like /proc I am still unsure of how we benefit from these being files.

Thanks to Honeywell Inc and Bell Labs and many unknown Multics (1967) developers. Multics, the predecessor of Unix (Multi versus unified) . Also thanks to Ken Thompson and Denis Richie for Unix.
Linux, 1991, was only inheriting this. Notice this August there exist an Update 12.8 on Multics😃 -
