@jeffcliff @ceo_of_monoeye_dating @alex @SuperSnekFriend @idea_enjoyer the only certain takeaway from this is that one of the images is not real. now we sit here debating which one is the true photo and which one is the doctored image, unable to determine which one.

Someone manufactured one of the images so we know that there is "foul play"

We cant trust images any more and AI will only get better as time goes further obfuscating the truth and this shit will flood social media. probably heading towards a future where we only know whats happening in our local community and anything outside of that is a rumor at best like it the fucking medieval period

TLDR: we r all getting psy-opped

  but which of them is fake is way less important than the chain of reasoning we're using to determine fakery.
  
  Maybe a vertical/horizontal Sobel filter isn't the way to go. I'm open for alternatives and can't quite 100% reproduce OP (i'm guessing they use photoshop/imagemagick/something else, not gimp). There's a whole bunch of different transforms that might bring up high frequency change to be more perceptable, and which AI might generate different than human yet.

  @jeffcliff @ceo_of_monoeye_dating @alex @SuperSnekFriend @idea_enjoyer im nowhere near as technically informed to use any of this shit to determine what is fake or real, but I believe AI will be eventually be able to fool most methods, so we will eventually have to deal with these sorts of lies and i think the best way to do that is to distrust pretty much anything on the internet that someone would have a reason to lie about
