@Zerglingman@alex it's more I told people steam is just the planned Xbox one drm back in the day and people laughed at me and mocked me and said steam is digital only. Turns out nearly all steam retail games are steam drm installers and contain a steam installer and game files on the disc to be extracted by steam itself. Whose laughing now?
@Zerglingman@alex PC gamers are cucks and didn't push for no drm period, let alone sneakier drm like "no dedicated servers". This is the end result along with kids getting into it from Minecraft and TF2 f2p.
In fact shit like the mw2 boycott are why developers are cocky when it comes to assfucking their fans. Multiple titles later and CoD went from being a top game on xfire and steam to one where all the PC players are just Xbox and PS4 players found through cross plat matchmaking.
@theorytoe@Zerglingman@alex oh there were campaigns against it that fizzled out harder than gamergate did. And troons and the new generation care more about how many brown people a game has anyway.
at this point i really dont care much avout AAA releases (never did really to begin with).
Ive never really been "hyped" for a new game, because there havent really bee much worth caring about in recent years. I end up replaying old indie titles or emulating old games.
just sucks that games have become so heavily corporatized.
@PhenomX6@Zerglingman@alex Ah I got it. Thank you. Yeah, physical copies of media are the best. And they're doing their best to completely ruin that too.
@PhenomX6@Zerglingman@alex This movement to subscription services for everything, is retarded and soul sucking. Im happy that the last game that I bought seemed to actually have the game on the disc.
@PhenomX6@Zerglingman@alex Or pay monthly for our subscription service or the heated seats in your car won't work and your car will have reduced HP as well(BMW). It's crazy
This is a tired old cope I’ve always heard from Steam zombies. There is no such thing as “good DRM”. Giving DRM psychopaths any ground is only capitulating.
@wrongthink@alex@PhenomX6 Well... Objectively it is. Steam doesn't even require you to use steamapi.dll when you release on their store; so you can use it for sales with effectively no DRM. Which is why I am only willing to go as far as "mostly benign" because it's still another point of failure instead of just self-publishing. (Shout-out to Unbroken Hours, Soldak Entertainment, Hanako Games.)
