Mastodon Migration VOTED (mastodonmigration@mastodon.online)'s status on Wednesday, 11-Oct-2023 11:39:58 JST Mastodon Migration VOTED Feel like Mastodon did a very good job over the last few days getting out the news and moderating the worst of the disinformation. It is sad that @caseynewton has become such a proponent of Threads. Wondering if open social media is really compatible with influencer journalism, and whether that might have something to do with the preference for a commercial site.

Casey Newton (caseynewton@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 11-Oct-2023 11:39:58 JST Casey Newton @mastodonmigration @TechDesk My preference is for a site with a vibrant and growing ecosystem, and an innovative product. Mastodon is designed to be a niche, and that's fine if that's what it wants to be. I'd note that I still actually post here and read my replies, unlike 99 percent of my peers in the US tech press

Flipboard Tech Desk (techdesk@flipboard.social)'s status on Wednesday, 11-Oct-2023 11:40:00 JST Flipboard Tech Desk Twitter was once the go-to app for up-to-date news, first-hand accounts and quality journalism on the ground. But over the weekend, as users sought information about the Israel-Hamas conflict, they found platform X flooded with misinformation. So they turned to Threads, as Platformer editor @caseynewton explains for The Verge.
