FF16 and FF7Reimagined are action games now too btw. :popuko_nod:
- luithe likes this.

@Cayhr and they (ff7 "remake" and ff16) have sold like shit, and the majority of the fans of the franchise are straight up rejecting it, and have been since ff13 and 15. Yet squeeeeenix just doesn't get it.
BG3 sould well not just because it was a GOOD rpg, but because it is turn based, and the market is basically starved for them. Turn based rpgs fans are starving, BG3 and larian gave them what they wanted and served them.
brain dead monkeys like that are why dragon age origin never had a sequel. (yes i know what i said. IT NEVER HAD A SEQUAL.)

@Cayhr Still mildly annoyed FF16 is called FF16. Can't believe the RPG franchise is relegating it's RPG roots to the side games.
-
@Cayhr now I'm ultra worried dragon quest 12 is trying to market to these faggots who never played a dragon quest game in their lives for western money even though fhr west doesnt give a fuck for dragon quest since the 80's

@Cayhr >BG1 and BG2 aren't turn based
OHHHHH, RETARD ALERT, RETARD ALERT.
BG1 and 2, just as any other Infinity Engine game, are turn based, but there is no pause between turns, they just keep going with the character doing the actions you told them to.
You still roll initiative, you still have abilities that can be cast only once per round (that IIRC occurs every 6 seconds), and if you tell a character to use an ability, they won't use that ability right when you clicked (like a real time action game), they'll "queue" the command and use it on their next turn. The games require you to be contantly pausing to issue new orders and move your characters on time without missing a turn.
I think the only time I've ever managed to play it as a kinda "real time action game" was when I played Icewind Dale 2 as a solo sorcerer, so I had only one character to control and played the whole game without pausing.
I can agree that it being turn based in the style of "ok, now it's this characters turn, everything will stop and only this character will move and attack" can be kinda boring and "break" the pacing, and a style like the old IE games where shit happens more or less at the same time can be more dynamic and interesting, but what these retards are asking is for a button masher, or a stupid clicker ARPG like Diablo.

@Suzu @Cayhr basically the old school fallout games turn based system where the turn doesn't end unless you have no ap left to do actions
-
@Cayhr "The game should be entirely different to suit my tastes"

@namedoesntfi lol it's quite LITERALLY this. It'd be one thing if he said "TRPGs aren't for me so I hope Dragon's Dogma fulfills the action I want," but no he says BG3 would be BETTER if it wasn't the way it was.
