     @alex I posted previously about these and I think the result was that it was apparently barely as effect as 3? or so trees, had 0 advantage of an actual tree, probably needs shitloads of maintenance, electricity, etc. and basically it's a total scam

     @coolboymew @alex the 3 trees replacement is simply wrong, and unfortunately parroted in the false media, the correct estimate is that the best case scenario (according to the people who made it) is equal to two 10 year old trees, not counting the construction costs which set it to negative

     @mint @alex I once had a drug induced vision of this. The AI overlord knew it existed to facilitate human existence. But, its primary concern being efficiency, it didn't matter what forms the humans took as long as they "existed". Putting them all in weird amniotic tubes was the best way to control population and distribute resources while farming whatever consciousness or energy they needed from us.

     @coolboymew @alex the actual point of the "liquid trees" is completely missed by all clickbait media articles, the point is to show one of the many methods algae can be applied in, and to cause interest in alternative algae uses in serbia, for perfectly valid and well tested and known applications of bio algae. waste treatment, biomass, biofuel, etc

     @mint @alex I realize it kinda just sounds like the Matrix, but at least those robots let you live in a comfy little simulation of 1999. These people had nothing that resembled a life and were only barely alive by our standards. Creepiest part was that buildings and roads were maintained like we never left, but everything was totally immaculate and empty. Only existing because they fit some cold interpretation of efficiency.

     the product was never meant to be some modern solution, the professor who helped make it never wanted this to gain any media traction, it is merely a fun proof of concept for something that can never be scaled up
     
     i had a pages long rant about this last year and the year before but i wont search for this rant, but the short end is that clickbait media made this article into a sensation, by misquoting, lying, and muddying (hehe) the facts on purpose every step of the way, until it became a list of so many lies and discreptancies, which was perfectly fitting for the ultimate clickbait
