     @LolikingSama depends on your intended usage.
     if you want to store images and videos then just grab an HDD. but if you want something REALLY fast for your games, then an NVME SSD like this is a great choice for the long-term.
     NVMEs are piss easy to install. you just take off the glass cover then install and screw it in the M.2 slot.
     
     do keep in mind that this one is pretty pricey.
     4TB is crazy expensive but 2TB is more decently priced.

     Make one your boot drive and watch your PC boot up in mere seconds.

     @Meemoo im in the market for a 2tb but i wouldnt mind getting an 4tb. My current 1tb external is SUUPER old slow brick of a external that i need to replace. (used it for my xbox back in i dunno 2015? :kekw: ) I may just get the nvme ssd, i need to get used to opening mine up anyways.

     @Meemoo @LolikingSama @kilostere leaving computers on is gentler on them than turning all the way off and on regularly. drives spinning up and the thermal cycling on all components from cooling down to room temperature and then heating back up to operating temperature puts the most stress on them. drives with tons of power on hours but only a couple dozen spin ups are just fine, until they start getting reallocated sectors.
     but everything needs reboots. no matter what OS you use it needs regular updates.

     You should at least shut down every week.
     Shut down daily before bed ideally.
     If you're leaving your PC on sleep mode then that's awful for your RAM because all the processes are stored in there which means they are running at full power 24/7
