@Giganova8 Ah, an absolute classic. Series was very well done and it does hit a lot. Originally watched the series thinking it was all comedy focused judging by what me and a group of pals had seen, we had a sad night that night.
@poopernova@Giganova8 It's worth it, even if it hurts a bit, it's good. Uses a reasonable connection to actual Touhou canon as well, so it doesn't end up full of nothing but overdone sadness and pity bait (unlike Koishi Komeji's Heartthrobing Adventure, which I'll refrain from sperging out about here but it's far too overdone because it's "violent" as if that adds some kind of value). And here's funny melon gif from the series that led to my watching it since one guy kept posting the gif without having even seen the series. Overall though Rumia and Reimu is always one of the cutest pairings of characters, and most interesting. https://mangadex.org/title/5a95bbf7-0f25-400b-bdb9-c6187d9e1efb/touhou-rumia-s-big-family Cute doujin for recovery after watching
It's surprisingly hard to find just lighthearted stuff desu, everything either adds some sort of drama element and becomes too serious or devolves into slapstick. :akko_weary:
@Iffine@poopernova Even beyond Touhou or Rumia-specific stuff, it's damn hard to find stuff that just does simple, happy SoL without veering off into drama or something. :gura_pout:
Thanks for the recs though, will check them out. :naruhodo:
@Giganova8@poopernova Ahh, SoL pain. Yeah, it sucks a lot. The best source of slice of life that's just cute would be Manga Time Kirara's series, but you need a deep understanding of japanese to read em at this point since only about one in ten of their series get any form of translation. If you want pure slice of life than I double down on the suggestion of reading Suwakoto, it's just a Touhou version of Yotsuba so it's about as pure as you can get. As for some more suggestions (since I just want to share good stuff to read), a couple of doujins since sorting through the actual manga stuff is difficult. https://dynasty-scans.com/authors/hirasaka_makoto Anything by Hirisaka Makoto is great, especially after the Sangetsusei series was finished publishing leading to a lot more fairy themed stories. (And if you for some reason haven't, the Sangetsusei series and all the Touhou manga themselves tend to keep up the cute story act.) https://dynasty-scans.com/series/together_with_hecaa_chan Very cute series of Hecatia and Clownpiece living as a family. https://mangadex.org/title/83371cc0-a25c-4042-918c-c97d7dec35ab/touhou-mamange https://mangadex.org/title/6da102e6-34da-4e56-b502-6bd095e9e4b5/touhou-mamange-eternal Mamange has been fairly long running, and is one of the peaks of simple cute stories (Side Story Yuuka & Medicine from Eternal and Chapter 16 of Mamange Eternal notwithstanding, I cried at least once goddammit.) https://mangadex.org/title/2e3db2aa-de3b-449f-ab36-1212d7b2ce10/touhou-atai-to-gensokyo https://mangadex.org/title/d69bd4f0-9c8d-414a-b270-0fac88afc39d/touhou-atai-to-maigo Simple fairy SoL with a small spinoff chapter too focused on an out of place girl. Could link a lot more single doujins, but I feel a couple of series is fitting for now. Listing off what I can think of for non-doujin series though, New Game! is great, Hatsukoi*Rail Trip has train lovers, and I beg of you to read Null Meta (so much so I'll link it https://mangadex.org/title/4c64f461-8562-44f3-a13f-aea2a0382d63/null-meta here), it's a very cute little comedy 4koma, Funnily enough, the best source of happy simple stories right now in my eyes is goddamn isekai and other things like it, since any story that actually sticks to the OP aspect just ends up with happy people enjoying their lives.
