   Supposed to watch the new season of mushoku to watch cute elf wife romance but she fell asleep at 8 pm so now I’m shopping for helicopters I’ll never buy.

   Then again, w/ mosaic coming, and rumors about exper-assist builds, mayber there’s a tiny way you could finish one and rent it out (and grossly overinsure it so you come out ahead when the first renter smashes into a hill killing 3)

     What’s interesting is that the few small turbine helos on the market are almost always powered by the Solar T62, a little turbine w/ about 180 hp (IIRC) that was pulled off of the…..seaking or the chinook, can’t remember which, but it was originally used as an APU instead of an actual thrust engine. It’s still kind of a mark of pride to own a fancy turbine helicopter, even if the smaller turbo piston engines are edging them out on efficiency AND performance.

     Then you have stuff like this, just using an old ass IO540. But at least it uh….has fuel injection? FANCY

     They’re basically a lie all the time, they probably screwed up their conversions into imperial anyways. They don’t specify but it probably has a 200-300 hp lycoming, and those things wheeze at 16,000 to noticeable decline. Add in O2 requirements and the only way this is getting 20k is in perfect conditions with min fuel, even then I don’t quite buy it.

     Looks like one of the better designs though. I was looking for a new one I heard about, some defense contractor making ugly crap for AFWERX announced their own kit copter which is the most retarded monetary pursuit I can imagine

     Avemco writes policies on pretty much anything that’s airworthy. Cheaper than you’d think sometimes, too. The most expensive part is liability for the tiny cheap crap, since they have to replace the stuff you explode on the ground

     T62 T32 is (was?) also used as the APU on the AH64, the Erickson SkyCrane, and a few other aux power hungry helis. Pretty popular unit; even ones with thousands of hours still fetch a premium

     If that’s the Rotorway, then they ARE coming out with a licensed model from “advanced tactics” with a turbine and some fly by wire setup. Probably gonna make six or seven until they stop, but it would be kind of cool to have that pedigree.

     Can’t remember if the A600 phoenix was derived from teh XE lineup though, maybe not

     Nah, the Mosquito is a single seater. Kit without the turbine is $60k, $77k factory finished. It's basically a shifter kart in helicopter form.
