   Supposedly boomercon parents. And….they want a career feminist? WTH is going on in these families? They want grandkids but sending your wife to med school is more important?

     My mom has her opinions about stuff but ultimately she knows that as long as me/my sister are happy with who we are, she can't do much if at all

     What bugs me is that his parents sound like somewhat ‘based’ types. They probably align with us more than the majority of their cohort, but for some reason they can’t see the internalized feminism in their own expectations. They’re so inured with this stuff they actively see gold and think “well, it’s not coal like everyone else is getting, so it must be bad”

     My dad has outright stated he no longer expects grandkids from me or my older brother and is now banking on my little brother

     My father expected me to have children first as well, sister beat me to it. It was a good bet. I was with the same woman for 5 years. Met her at an SCA event. We planned on getting married after she got out of college due as her grandparents were bankrolling it. They disapproved of me due to my status and not having a "good" job (e.g doctor, lawyer, engineer. I'm a janitor making $23/hr) after she transferred to another college for her bioeng degree. Left me after seeing all the other girls shacking up with educated men and growing disagreements with where we wanted to go after she got out.
     She grew up off the grid. Was sort of a conservative hippy. She was a lovely woman.
     That was 6 years ago. Haven't found anyone I've meshed with since then. My thirties are rapidly approaching. Scantly 3 years away now.
     Never lose hope. But God it's begining to look bleak.
     
     I don't know why I felt like autistically rambling about this.
