Total video essay victory
If you have something to say, say it. Podcast as friend simulator isn't helpful unless the podcast is related to a specific topic-

The whole idea was that you had personal tailored audio instead of radio at work, and now that it’s easy enough to offer a video component only the olds with stagnant audiences are content to be audio only.
Even if there’s nothing to look at, or everyone’s screen is off anyway, video’s more popular.

Nobody seems to understand it, it honestly baffles me. I have to say this to all these companies all the time, they’ll share advert metrics and they’re just garbage, none of the olds in charge understand what they’re even looking at. They hear silly things like “ah, we have 1.2 million total subscribers” or “we have 40 million views on youtube” but the second you actually look at the performance, they’re dwindling. People move on.
I know most podcasts are dying because pilots used to always bug me to listen to new shows, and I haven’t had that happen in forever. At best I get references to streamers or vtubers, and even that is a fraction of the bonanza the podcasting industry used to have.

Fans disappear. They get bored. They lose interest. They get offended. They snap out of the thrall.
Most streamers that have been around a few years log in to see a constant negative in their total sub screens. It’s worst in youth-skewed stuff, people get busy and grow out of things. They get better jobs, they can’t listen all day. They grow out of the hobby.
Most of these channels, creators, and new media companies just rely on a steady, insane cadre of paypigs, wrenching them for every cent they can month after month. But if you aren’t replacing the outgoing ones, the attrition will kill you.
Before you know it you look down and see you’re only getting $900 this month, when you used to get $10k when the getting was good. I don’t know how accounting doesn’t see it all as a waste.
